We had seen the weather maps.  Yes, everyone knew the snow was coming.  I had a trial scheduled this afternoon at 1:30—the court called and cancelled late yesterday, although the weather at the time was positively balmy.  The weather guy was adamant that we were going to get dumped on yet again. Yesterday was my late FIL’s birthday, so last night in his honor (on good, dry roads) MIL, Son and I went out to his favorite Italian restaurant where MIL ordered his favorite Brasiola.  We had a good time remembering him.  I was tired enough to put off the compulsion most of us have to stop at the grocery story, knowing that I had plenty of food at home. Well, V and I have certainly been derelict in our blogging duties.  The Christmas season was all-consuming.  I was blessed with a houseful of nephews plus a niece.  The house seems quiet after that many people, but at least one has promised to come in the summer to help me stain porches. We have lots of snow for our area.  Here is what my place looks like: Chili is loving the snow.  My problem is that he’s decided he wants to go out in the middle of the night (unusual) and play in the snow for an hour or two, whining at the door when he’s ready to snuggle back down.  I don’t have the heart to leave him out there in low teens weather, so I drag back up to indulge him by letting him back in to sleep. Notice the deer rib cage Chili has dragged up.  So picturesque in the snow. Well, Saturday I left this: and I awoke Monday morning to these views from my front porch: We have had lots of snow (for our area, anyway) and I have missed my first two days back to the office.  My son and I drove up to get MIL on Monday afternoon—we don’t have to leave the driveway, mind you—and slid off the driveway into our ditch!  Our drive is as flat as anything I can imagine, but we were just to the left of center because we could not actually see where the drive was placed, and the slope of the edge was just enough to allow gravity to pull us into the ditch!  Needless to say, we got MIL and snuggled in at home. It’s Wednesday morning, and I’m waiting for daylight before striking out, but I am determined to be at my desk this morning.  I have spent some of my time off organizing pictures, and will be posting in the morning (I hope!) with some pictures of the trip.  Hopefully, V is doing the same!
