Yeah, it’s French.  And, yeah, I’m faking it—I can’t speak French, at least not yet, but it’s the phrase that came to mind this morning.  See?  I know a little… I found myself wanting to write.  But about what?  Those of us in Blogdom know that one way to get a post done is to sit at the keyboard and let our fingers do the walking…mine just seemed to take off. I thought about taking off on a comment that Vickie of Sand Flat Farm made on my last post on cussing, no less.  Her point is that we are growing “numb” to things…yes, that’s a post all right.  But this morning I don’t feel like soap box ranting (do I hear a collective sigh of relief?).  Vickie’s inspiration will wait on another day.  No, I think I feel like just reporting.  On life.  When V first dragged me into blogging and we were considering names for our blog, one of the first names my cynical mind came up with was “As if You Care!”   But I find that I do c...

V: Wal-Mart Friends & Wonder Woman #1

Image
Earlier I was checking in on Debbie at www.dcwisdom.wordpress.com .and enjoyed her funny post about an experience in Wal-Mart. I "commented" to Debbie about how I've become friends with a woman, who works the evening shift as a clerk at Wal-Mart. Her day job is in an office at a hospital nearby, and she works the second job to help take care of her aged (Alzheimer victim) mother and often has one of her adult kids and grandkids living with her. When I was taking an evening class a while back, I got into the habit of stopping by Wal-Mart to pick something up on my way home. I always park near the garden center because I like to check out the stu ff and it's not nearly so congested as the rest of the store! She would often be working there alone in the not so busy garden center area, so she usually was the one who checked me out. Often we'd get into a little conversation if no one was waiting, and that's how I learned that she also had a mother with this terribl...

C: Every Day Ordained?

Image
This is a post about a post.  My mother-in-law posted the other day at Immigrant Daughter , and in it she revealed something I only just discovered while reading it.  She did not make much of this in her post but, as you will see, I have been pondering it ever since I read it.  Here’s the much-shortened version of the back story:  My father-in-law (now gone from us for two years) was born out of wedlock in Indiana in 1924.  He was raised in foster homes, and his story is one of extremes: tragedy and redemption.  This is one of my favorite pictures of him, in my breakfast room, holding my cat.  You can read more about him on Immigrant Daughter .  He married MIL in 1949. When he was grown, with his own family (maybe in his 50’s??), he found his blood family.  After he was given to the foster system as an infant, his parents had married and had two sons—his full brothers.  His parents had both died by the time he located the family. ...

C: God in Nature...A Sermon for You

If you have read very many of my posts, you know what a blessing my dogs are to me. When I was sent this video by a friend, I thought "Wow! What a sermon is that!" I had to share: C

C: Just Ask Dorothy—Magic Shoes Make All the Difference.

Last week I got a beautiful vase full of long-stemmed roses from a client. I must admit that I don’t get all the credit. It was to both my senior partner and to me. Our client’s sweet card said, “ Just something to show how much I appreciate all your help in my dilemma .” This client pays us for our service, and we expect nothing more. But it is the sheer unexpectedness of it that makes this kind of gift such a pleasure to receive. He is a wonderful older man who is, indeed, in a dilemma. We are working hard for him but certainly he did not have to do this. Just look at them! Although it is not typical for me to get gifts above my fee, neither is it rare. In our business, many times there is a personal bond forged as we steer folks through some very trying problems. It makes me feel like I’ve done a job well when a client feels moved to give me something more personal. Just last month I received this necklace. It is hand-made by a client and came in a little jewelry box with...

C: Updates

Things were going along swimmingly...poor choice of words: all of a sudden we got soaked with a rain of trouble!  The showers began on Thursday, Sepember 3. I was in trial two counties away, car loaded with supplies from Sam's for V's son's rehearsal dinner the next night, wedding reception the following day. As I exited the courtroom, I was told my office was trying to reach me. My mother-in-law had fallen. Now, understand that MIL is hale and hearty. A broken hip was the last thing we expected. She had been pulling her little cart around, adding to our burn pile and just suddenly "sat down." She did not feel any pain until she tried to get up. God was certainly watching over her because our carpenter was on duty, finishing up her new well house. He is a neighbor, and his wife came to help, loading her into the car and driving her to the hospital. The nurses at the hospital were in disbelief that she rode to the hospital in a car, saying that the pain of the...

V: Trusting

This week's been hard! Difficult circumstances for a child I love. Can't figure out how to "fix it", although as a mother I always want to at least try to "fix it". I pray and pray, but sometimes it seems to hit against a brick wall. I think I've reached the yielding point. Whatever Lord, whatever. I'm not sure even what to ask in this situation. Whatever your Will, be done. To anyone peeking in, hop over to http://www.threeblindsheep.blogspot/ . You will NOT be disappointed! M had just the encouraging word I needed to hear today.
