Someone new arrived last month to join adoring siblings who all want to hold her!  She WILL be spoiled, but hopefully will be as sweet and peaceful as she looks in this photo!

She seems a little interested and sometimes sweet, but there have been a couple of incidents—such as climbing into the bassinet and a little love pat administered to new baby sister with too much gusto!

It’s fun to play dress up with high heels when you’re not holding new sister!

I loved dressing up in my mom’s high heels when I was little.  I especially remember my mom’s open toed black patent leather stilettos!  I  loved my pair of plastic high heels when I was five.  It was my consolation prize for having my tonsils out!  I can still remember clattering down the halls of the hospital in my “heels”.  I think they were sparkly!  Did YOU ever own a pair of those high heels?  I’m wondering if they still make them!  They were slippery and a little dangerous!

 

TOY HIGH HEELS

When you tire of babysitting you can always play with the ponies.  Yes, little sisters rock!

Or you take a spin around the farm!  With supervision of course!

Eldest daughter is still recovering.  It wasn’t an easy pregnancy and little Grace arrived 3 weeks early.

But after a stay in the NICU she appears to be perfect!

And she is rarely alone.  There is always someone watching over her!

It brings it all back with sweet remembrance -- how I sometimes miss having young children in my house—all the time!  But I must say that I am REALLY glad my high heel days are over!

Congratulations! She is adorable as is her big sister. So glad that your daughter is doing much better. She is a very pretty mama.

Take care...oh, yes, I had a pair of those darling heels when I was young. They broke much too soon. I loved them.

Congratulations to your whole family. Baby and big sister are both adorable.
No high heels for me. I was a complete tom boy and hated dresses much to the dismay of my mother!

Yes, I remember wearing those toy high heels, and I loved them. They do still ,make them, and now I wonder how any child can clatter around in them as they sure aren't made to be comfortable.

C: A Chili Dog and Country Life

When John Denver wrote/sang, " Life in the farm is kinda laid back.. ." I'm afraid he did not know what he was talking about. Surely the only person who could intone these lyrics is a singer who can hire stuff done and then lie back around his country home, enjoying only the relaxing part. Believe me, there is another side... In my own country world, there is always something that has been left undone: fences need mending (or the horses lead one on a harrowing chase), grass needs mowing, and electricity is sometimes missed. But it has its many, many moments of beauty. Just look at my horse, Bill, gazing out over our country place. In this picture, he embodies the nobility and serenity and peace of my life in the country. And then there is Chili, the Belgian Malinois pictured above. He is my constant companion when I am home. C: Lessons on a Bridge

We have a graceful bridge over the Arkansas River, uniting the North and South of our metropolitan area from its western side.  I don’t travel this bridge very often—maybe three or four times a year—finding that my travels take me more east-west and, if I go north, I usually travel on the Eastern side of the loop. But this week I had court in another county, and the logical route home brought me by way of this bridge.  It was on that day (last Thursday), that something occurred to me.  Never —not one time, I’d venture to say—do I traverse this bridge without thinking of an incident that occurred there in 1999.  Yes, 13 years ago, and the incident is still in my mind every time I cross the bridge.  I told V about this, and she c onfirmed that she, too, often thinks of it. This young lady’s name is Carson Prince.  In 1999 she was  the nineteen-year-old daughter of two attorneys, one of them the former mayor of our city.  In April 1999 drivers crossing from the North on this bridge
