C: Spring Work on the Homestead

What a beautiful day, last Sunday!   We took the opportunity to work on our front  steps where the support beam had worked loose.  I use the term “we” loosely…you can see from this picture who was actually doing most of the work!DSCN1074

Son and I purchased our first jack!!!  A hydraulic jack!  A red DSCN1079hydraulic jack!  (This sounds so very impressive to me….it takes so little…).  We jacked that sucker up and went to work!

We had lots of help from the dogs, who simply adore it when we are outside working.  They stick right with us, offering to help, keeping a watchful eye.

DSCN1095There is still so much to do (always), and my place is never going to look like Martha Stewart’s home and certainly not like some of my blogging friends’ places.  I envy all you folks out there who can share pictures of gorgeous flowers and projects  It is all Son and I can do to keep the grass down and the place in repair!  It seems we both work all the time during the week. 

I have my “projects” list but it never seems to get shorter.  I just took a “before” photo of my bedroom’s screened porch, intending to wow you all with the results of my renovation project, but we’ll see.  I am mentioning it now as added accountability to spur myself to get it done!  So frustrating at times not to be able to get to it all!

But we are content and happy to be in the country!

Frankly, I like your view better too. Isn't it funny how our dogs seem to look as thought they're as involved as we are? Chili's looking good!

Oh, do not worry that you do not share pretty flowers, I love you gorgeous "wild" view. I have neighbours right next to me and at times I would wish to be on a completely secluded spot in the woods.;) Isolated with no disturbance and at times disagreement with the people.;) Just today there was one about the height of the hedge between our houses - i want it tall, the neighbours want it short. And they won.;)

C, I, too, like my country living! Yes, those honey-do lists never end. I read your post about Alzheimer's and cried. Just lost my dad last June from Parkinsons and demensia and had been in the nursing home for two years. I could very much relate to your experiences. Similar your Jon Bon Jovi quote - it's all in pencil anyway. :) Y'all have a blesse day.

I love your natural living photos too! Someone (my s-i-l) recently slammed our country living. When I chose to rise above and just respond with a, 'well, we like it,' she said, 'yeah, but...' and proceeded to slam it some more. I bit my tongue instead of saying that I would rather chew glass than live in her suburban sardine neighborhood.

I'll never have a manicured garden...so? People who don't like it can stay away, and I'll enjoy the peace and quiet with my dogs...they never complain. :)

What a treasure your son is -- and your dogs -- and your MIL -- and V! I am so glad that you are surrounded by these wonderful parts that make up your support group/family. You are blessed. And always know that there are also those of us who can't be there in person to be part of your life, who are there in heart! :)

C: Joie de Vivre!

Yeah, it’s French.  And, yeah, I’m faking it—I can’t speak French, at least not yet, but it’s the phrase that came to mind this morning.  See?  I know a little… I found myself wanting to write.  But about what?  Those of us in Blogdom know that one way to get a post done is to sit at the keyboard and let our fingers do the walking…mine just seemed to take off.
