C: Something to Anticipate!

Knowing I would love it, my brother-in-law sent me this link. And, indeed, I enjoyed this trailer immensely. Watch it all the way to the end--I love the final scene!!



These few images from this documentary made me think about how we are all so alike and yet our cultures approach things so differently (a baby drinking from a stream??? I love it!!). I cannot wait to see what this film can teach me!

I think this comes out in April 2010...I'll be waiting!! C

Love this! I will have to see this when it comes out. Got a total belly laugh from the last scene where the goat sneaks a drink from the dishpan the baby is sitting in!

I don't know why , but this brought tears to my eyes! I guess we Westerners think we're so smart and on top of everything but really, there is nothing new under the sun and babies have been loved by their parents since Adam and Eve brought forth Cain and Abel...I had not heard of this show but will be waiting for it!

What fun it would be if every family could have a goat sneak i and drink baby's bath water.

I look forward to this movie, thank you for letting us know about it. I am thrilled to see films that depict humanity and the similarities we all share. All moms on earth love their babies with the same intensity. One may have more monetarily, but the love is the same. When a mom in Africa loses a child she feels the same pain and anguish a woman in the United States feels to lose her baby. When we (humans) can see that we truly are all the same, maybe we can stop having the prejudices that we use to justify hurting others.

I have really got to see this movie when it comes out. looks outrageously ingtriguing. hope you post about it when you see it! i did med missions in all sorts of strange corners of the world before i had my baby, and now i'm so curious about what day to day life would be in those cultures for babies! i love the scene with the african baby crawling across the dirt and the wind blowing...it makes me feel free.

C: Lessons on a Bridge

We have a graceful bridge over the Arkansas River, uniting the North and South of our metropolitan area from its western side.  I don’t travel this bridge very often—maybe three or four times a year—finding that my travels take me more east-west and, if I go north, I usually travel on the Eastern side of the loop. But this week I had court in another county, and the logical route home brought me by way of this bridge.  It was on that day (last Thursday), that something occurred to me.  Never —not one time, I’d venture to say—do I traverse this bridge without thinking of an incident that occurred there in 1999.  Yes, 13 years ago, and the incident is still in my mind every time I cross the bridge.  I told V about this, and she c onfirmed that she, too, often thinks of it.
