I see it everyday when I have to deal with younger folks; they have no attention span At All and I have not much memory; it's a, potentially, dangerous situation indeed!Thistle Cove Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15722295191884810953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1834389037350420100.post-29355512993635244062010-10-23T14:46:53.009-05:002010-10-23T14:46:53.009-05:00Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving a ...Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment, and most of all, for inviting me to yours! I thoroughly enjoyed your post on the brain/the Internet today. It's all very worrisome; and I have to agree with most of this article.

In recent years I've noticed that I have trouble focusing on longer articles and books. My degree is in literature, and I was a born reader. I read novels and nonfiction -- voraciously -- for years. But the more time I spend online -- surfing, blogging, emailing, etc., the less I am able to concentrate on printed material. I find it hard to finish books as easily and quickly as I used to, and that is very worrisome to me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1834389037350420100.post-23363069461892494082010-10-22T18:06:37.838-05:002010-10-22T18:06:37.838-05:00I know first hand how multi-tasking takes away fro...I know first hand how multi-tasking takes away from meetings and conversations. I have started turning my email off during conference calls and just keeping a blank notepad in front of me. It is so easy to get distracted and then I find I have missed things. I also value quiet time and think that when we are constantly in environments that are noisy we lose the ability to have those deep thoughts. I find the same thing happens in church...I love contemporary music, but in small doses and I love the quiet, low light time of reflection that is present in some of the liturgical church services. It just seems to make it easier to focus on prayer and connecting with God.

This post makes some wonder points!KathySuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15453964623882365876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1834389037350420100.post-37669222266895170732010-10-22T16:48:36.986-05:002010-10-22T16:48:36.986-05:00I'm with you. Lets hope people will follow it.
I am fascinated with how the brain works.
I've read a very good book about the brain not too long ago.
Brain, The Complete Mind by Michael S Sweeney.
Well worth reading.happyonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14186179870233267082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1834389037350420100.post-50914871211317674462010-10-22T07:35:16.674-05:002010-10-22T07:35:16.674-05:00I hope that I've read your post thoroughly. :O...I hope that I've read your post thoroughly. :O This reminds me of studies done years ago now comparing S*esame S*treet with M*r. R*odger's. It was discovered that the first delivered information in quick snippets while the second took much longer. The bottom line is that the first program was training children to have the attention span of gnats. Maybe this is what's happening to all of us on an adult level now. Oh dear!Veehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00618654361869856894noreply@blogger.com
